Warehouse & Industrial Concrete Floors Tyler TX - Shop & Plant Slabs

Warehouses, distribution space, fabrication shops and service bays around Tyler put forklifts, pallet racks and steel-wheeled carts on concrete every working day. We pour new floors and replace failed sections in existing buildings, built to the engineer's design and laid out so joints stay out of the way of the work.

New Floors

An industrial slab is designed for its loads: rack post loads, forklift wheel loads, any equipment bolted down, and the soil under it. The engineer sets thickness, reinforcement and joint spacing; we build to that over a proof-rolled subgrade and a compacted base. Inside an enclosed building, Tyler's amendment to the 2021 IRC calls for a 6-mil ASTM E1745 Class A vapor retarder under residential slabs, and commercial specs commonly call for one too. The City's design guidelines say ground water is prevalent in and around Tyler, which is why moisture under a floor that will be coated or stacked with cardboard deserves attention.

Joints and Layout

Most floor complaints come from joints. We lay out saw cuts before the pour so joints don't land under rack legs or in the middle of a forklift aisle, saw them as soon as the concrete can take the blade, and fill them when the spec calls for semi-rigid joint filler so wheels don't chip the edges.

Replacing Sections in a Working Building

Replacing a broken drive aisle or a sunken area under racks means saw-cutting, removing, fixing the base and pouring back to match the existing floor, often in phases so the building keeps running. The City of Tyler's Development FAQ says an asbestos report is required for public, commercial and multi-facility buildings, and points to Texas Administrative Code §296.191. We ask for that report before we cut into an older floor.

Permits and Schedule

Commercial building work in Tyler is billed at $5 per $1,000 of estimated construction valuation on the City's fee schedule, and the Development FAQ puts commercial plan review at about 10 business days. Dock aprons and outside pads are on our commercial concrete flatwork page. If a floor has cracks or open joints but is otherwise sound, see concrete crack repair.
