ADA Curb Ramps Tyler TX - Commercial Sidewalks, Curb & Gutter
Concrete where the public walks is checked against numbers, and a ramp that misses them gets torn out. We build curb ramps, accessible routes, commercial sidewalks, curb and gutter and commercial driveway approaches in Tyler to the City's standard details, the Texas Accessibility Standards and the 2010 ADA Standards.

Curb Ramps
The City of Tyler's standard detail for a public access ramp with flares limits the ramp slope to 8.333 percent, which is the same as the ADA's 1:12. It calls for a detectable warning surface at least 24 inches deep across the full width of the ramp. The City's paving notes require detectable warnings that meet current Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation standards, and say ramps follow TxDOT specifications and details except where the City notes otherwise. Under the 2010 ADA Standards, cross slope can't exceed 1:48, flared sides can't exceed 1:10, and the landing at the top must be at least 36 inches long. Our crews check every ramp form with a digital level before concrete is ordered.

TDLR Review on Bigger Projects
TDLR's Architectural Barriers FAQ says a project costing $50,000 or more must be registered and submit construction documents for review, while smaller projects must still comply with the Texas Accessibility Standards. Registered projects get a plan review by a Registered Accessibility Specialist before inspection. On right-of-way jobs, TDLR counts only the square footage of sidewalks, curb ramps and related pedestrian elements. We work with the owner's RAS and build to the reviewed plans.

Commercial Sidewalks and Curb and Gutter
City code requires a City license, a bond and a permit before excavating for sidewalks, curb, gutter or driveways in a public place, and the work has to match the City's lines, grades and standard details. Those details call for:
- Sidewalks: 3,000 psi concrete, 4 inches thick and 6 through driveways, with a cross slope of 2 percent or less.
- Curb and gutter: a 6-inch curb, ½-inch expansion joints every 50 feet and control joints every 10 feet.
- Extensions: #3 dowels set at least 4 inches into existing curb.
Under Sec. 10-218, non-residential property needs a continuous 6-inch raised concrete curb along the right-of-way except at driveways. The City lists a commercial driveway permit at $50.

Driveways That Cross the Walk
Sec. 10-211 requires every driveway to let pedestrians cross the sidewalk in line with the Texas Accessibility Standards and the ADA, and limits the slope across the right-of-way to 10 percent. Lot work behind the curb is on concrete parking lots, and plazas and site walks are on commercial concrete flatwork.
