Stamped Concrete Tyler TX - Patios, Walkways & Pool Decks

Stamped concrete in Tyler gets you the look of flagstone, slate, brick or weathered wood plank in a single poured slab. There are no loose pavers to sink in a wet spring and no sand joints for weeds and fire ants to move into.

Patterns, Colors and Borders

Most stamped jobs start with a pattern family: ashlar slate, random flagstone, cobble or running-bond brick, or wood plank for a deck look beside the pool. Color goes on in two layers. A base color tints the slab, and a release in a darker shade is dusted on before the texture mats go down. The release settles into the low spots, and that contrast is what makes stamping read as stone. A border in a smooth band or a contrasting pattern frames the field and costs less than a second full pattern.

Where Stamped Concrete Belongs on a Tyler Lot

  • Back patios and outdoor kitchens. HomeGuide puts a 20' x 20' stamped patio at $3,200 to $7,600 nationally, before excavation and ground prep.
  • Front walks and entry landings on your side of the property line. HomeGuide's national range for stamped walkways is $10 to $21 a square foot, against $7 to $17 for a plain walk.
  • Driveways, with one catch. The City of Tyler's General Notes for Paving and Driveways say stamped surfaces are not allowed on any sidewalk section or driveway approach. Inside the city, a stamped driveway stops where the approach and public walk begin, and those pieces get a plain finish built to the City's detail. HomeGuide lists a 24' x 24' stamped driveway at $6,900 to $10,400 nationally.
  • Pool decks. Texture helps wet feet. Ask about a slip-resistant additive in the sealer.

What Sets the Price

HomeGuide splits stamped work into three national tiers: basic, with one pattern and one color, at $8 to $13 a square foot; mid-range, with two or more colors, a border or a second pattern, at $13 to $19; and high-end, with layered color, several patterns and hand-carved detail, at $19 to $26 and up. Our quotes list tear-out, base, thickness, color, pattern and sealer on separate lines so you can see where the money goes.

Stamping in East Texas Heat

NOAA's 1991–2020 normals for Tyler Pounds Field show about 98 days a year at 90°F or hotter. Heat shortens the window between placing the concrete and pressing the mats, so stamped pours here are planned for the cool part of the morning with enough hands to stamp the whole slab before it stiffens. Sun is the other enemy of color. HomeGuide recommends resealing stamped concrete every 2 to 3 years, and our concrete sealing page covers that.

If you already have a sound plain slab, a stamped overlay can add pattern without a new pour. See concrete resurfacing and overlays.
