Concrete Patio Installation Tyler TX - New Patios & Patio Extensions
A concrete patio is where a Tyler backyard gets used: the grill, the long table, the fire pit, the chairs under the oak. We pour new patios, extend small ones and replace old ones that have cracked or tipped toward the house.

Sizing a Patio to the Way You Use It
Start with what goes on it. A small slab off the back door fits a grill and a bistro table. A dining table for eight plus chairs that slide back needs a good deal more. A fire pit wants room for a ring of seats and a safe gap to the house. We'll mark the outline with paint on the site visit so you can stand in it before anything is dug. Curves around a bed or a tree cost a little more in forming but often make a yard look finished.

Water Has to Go Somewhere
NOAA's 1991–2020 normals put Tyler's rainfall at 42.10 inches a year. The City's Design Guidelines for Subdivision Improvements assign driveways, walkways and roofs a runoff coefficient of 0.75 to 0.95, against 0.05 to 0.35 for lawns, which is the engineering way of saying most of the rain that hits a slab runs off it. A patio has to pitch away from the foundation and send that water somewhere useful, not toward the back door or into the neighbor's yard. We check gutters, downspouts and the yard's grade before setting forms, and add a drain or a swale when the lot calls for it.

What a Patio Costs Nationally
Angi's 2026 figures put the average concrete patio at $3,557, with most people paying $1,919 to $5,393. HomeGuide lists a regular 10' x 20' patio at $800 to $2,400. Angi also notes an average deck runs about twice what an average concrete patio does. Our quote lists excavation, base, concrete, finish and any steps or drains separately.

Extensions, Covers and Heavy Loads
Adding onto an existing patio means doweling the new slab into the old one and matching the finish as closely as concrete allows; an exact color match on a weathered slab isn't promised by anyone honest. If a hot tub, outdoor kitchen or masonry fireplace is planned, say so up front: Angi's guidance is 6 to 8 inches of concrete with reinforcement for those loads. For a separate spa or equipment slab, see concrete pads.

Finishes
Broom finish is the plain, grippy standard. If you want more, stamped concrete and exposed aggregate and stained concrete each have their own page.
